Where the Rooster Roosts

Last week before I was to leave on a beach getaway, I discovered that there was going to be a Rooster Blog Party.  I don't have many roosters but I do have one colorful rooster that you may find roosting at different places in my coop.  I would love to introduce you to him.

My colorful Rooster seems to like the top of my kitchen cabinets among the fruits and veggies.

Sometimes he decides to roost on the kitchen counter. 

The fabric that he is roosting on makes him think he is on vacation in the Countryside of France.

I've had this fabric in my stash for awhile so I'm not sure where I purchased it.

Also, he likes to roost on the dining room table, only as a tablescape.

He is among friends with these colorful rooster plates. 

The place setting is layered with  a red charger and yellow dinner plate to accent the square rooster plate.

He is among more friends in the coop with this chicken fabric I purchased at a local fabric store called Strawberry Patches.  The fabric does come in other colors so click Strawberry Patches and check out other chicken fabrics.  I will show you some of the other printed roosters on this fabric.

Vintage Black Friday - Black Painted Box Roses

I've always loved vintage boxes.  

They work well in a vignette to give height for displaying at different eye levels.  

Several years ago, this vintage box caught my eye because number one it was black but then the added painted pink and yellow roses were an added bonus. 

The vintage black box is used in the vignette with my hand painted tea set.

Because some of the paint is worn, it just gives it charm.

This box has a copper lining.  I was told that it was used to keep cigars in. 

It seems to feminine for cigars, what do you think?

Wild Birthday Luncheon

I feel blessed to have two older sisters, eight and ten years older.  My nickname is "Baby Gail",  I think that says it all.  Anyway, my sister, Jeanette, just had a birthday.  Her daughter, Brooke, hosted a birthday luncheon for her.  Brooke and her husband are so creative and I wanted to share some of their home.

The dining room tablescape was lined with exotic candle holders. The damask table runner added charm to the setting.

The chargers are gold wire with crystal beads.  She used clear glass plates which showed off the chargers beautifully.

These are the patterned glass plates to sit on those lovely chargers.

Buffet in dining room.  In its previous life it was a pine cabinet but when they moved into this house they had it painted and feet added because of the high ceilings. 

Jeanette's favorite fruits, watermelon and grapes were included in the buffet line.

It is fun to include a tablescape in the buffet line. 

There were actually two vignettes that brought a colorful touch to the buffet line.

You don't mind waiting in the buffet line when there is eye candy to feast on.

Three of her great grandkids had to get out of the pool to sing "Happy Birthday" and lick the frosting off the candles on the cake.

Sorry but this is the wildest our party got with a closeup of the animal printed candles.
Jeanette loves to decorate and wear fashion in animal prints.

Rockabilly Adventure

In a previous post, A Lazy Summer's Day, Sally and I decided we would take an adventure to Southern California to go to the Urban Barn's Grand Opening.  We both had read about it online and knew this was something we would love to check out and we were not disappointed.

This vintage trailer greeted us.  I was in love.  When my husband and I were first married we had a trailer just like this one that we got from my parents so we could go camping with them.  I wish I had it back.

  Look how cute it was decorated on the inside.

The bed was all decked out in white bedclothes with burlap pillows and some prissy netting.

The kitchen was perfect for a vignette of lemons and rusty vintage accessories.

The lemonade looked wonderful especially because it was over 100 degrees that day.

Sally wanted to stay awhile.  How cute is that chandelier and those shabby corbels?  I might be tempted to camp if I had my old trailer fixed up like this.

This rockabilly outfit just set the mood.  She was already sold.
We saw it in its new shop later on that day.

 I did purchase this slip, those are the original colors.

I purchased one of these aqua umbrellas and also the book, "The Well-Dressed Home" by Annette Tatum.
It is inspiring to read how your fashion design inspires your decorating style.

.  On the right is Urban Barn Owner, Linda.  Thank you Linda for working so hard on your Grand Opening.  It was so much fun.  She is such a nice person and I will definitely be going back for a visit.  On the left is Erika, one of the owners from The Tattered House in Sacramento California that I love to visit when going through that area. Whether going through Northern or Southern California, there are amazing places to shop.

There were vendors outside as well as inside the shop.  This is a tea kettle that came home with me.  That plant is very hardy.  It will have to be to live at my house. lol

This love seat found a new home at Sally's house.

I was going to wait to show you this typewriter but I couldn't resist giving you a sneak peek. I have several typewriters but this one has a pink key on the right and some pink writing on the margin.  Even though I don't use much pink in my home's decor anymore, I knew it could fit in anyway.  There are just some things you can't leave behind.

I thought this Paris map would be so cute with the typewriter.  What do you think?
