Merry Christmas 2014

My Christmas decorating ideas started this year with a fur collar my friend, Cindi, gave me.
It was her Mother's from a 1950's coat.  I knew my dress form in the entry needed to be dressed up for the holidays to greet guests as they enter our home.

While stopping by a local shop to purchase some items, I spotted the area of Fall items that were "On Sale".  Oddly enough, there were three fur wired-ribbons.  The price was so good, I decided to buy all three because it matched the fur collar and I knew it would spark some ideas.  I placed one as a belt on the dress form and continued to put a rustic, woodsy tree by the form.

I, also, purchased this very cute bird ornament for the woodsy-themed tree.  It looks perfect coupled with the all natural bird's nest we preserved a few years ago.

The angel outfitted in her fur coat was perfect to hover on top of the tree.

What inspired your Christmas decorating?

Christmas Memories

If you wonder how to enjoy your cards from past and present Christmases, my daughter, Monica,  had a great idea this year.

She already had saved them in a box by year but no one got to see them so she bundled each year with Christmas fabric and a bow and made a tag with the year on it.   She placed them by the tree in a basket.

Her Christmas tree has ornaments that her three boys have received or made over the past years.

Wrapped presents have already arrived.

Santa knew right where to put them since my grandson, CJ, made a Lego sign.  He also made a Lego sign so the family would know how many days until Christmas.  It never hurts to let Santa  know that the big bribe of milk and cookies are right there, too.

Make Wonderful Christmas Memories with friends and family.

Christmas Flight and a Wonderful Life

I have a dress form that greets guests as they enter my house so
I thought it would be fun to dress her up for the holidays.
I saw angel wings for costumes so
that was my inspiration.
Burlap Luxe happens to be one of my favorite blogs
so I purchased this "Merry Christmas" sign from her Etsy store.
This angel with her vintage black lace apron
is ready to whip up some Christmas goodies.

Also, there is a musical vintage dress form at the entry to our living area and
she got her wings, too......Did you hear the bell ring?

After talking about angels getting their wings.....
I have to go watch the classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life"

"It's a Wonderful Life" is a 1946 Hollywood Christmas drama film produced and directed by Frank Capra and based on the short story "The Greatest Gift" written by Philip Van Doren Stern.

The film stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers). Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched and the contributions he has made to his community.

It is a lesson for us all to learn to touch a life
during this Christmas Season.

Dreaming of a Mantle for Christmas

I have been dreaming of a mantle since we moved in our house almost five years ago.  When I saw this mantle online,  I knew this was the look I am going for so I quickly added it to my husband's to- do-list.

But for this Christmas, I'll just have to use my imagination by hanging the garland on the candle sconces again this year.

It's a Wonderful Time of the Year!
