Merry Christmas 2014

My Christmas decorating ideas started this year with a fur collar my friend, Cindi, gave me.
It was her Mother's from a 1950's coat.  I knew my dress form in the entry needed to be dressed up for the holidays to greet guests as they enter our home.

While stopping by a local shop to purchase some items, I spotted the area of Fall items that were "On Sale".  Oddly enough, there were three fur wired-ribbons.  The price was so good, I decided to buy all three because it matched the fur collar and I knew it would spark some ideas.  I placed one as a belt on the dress form and continued to put a rustic, woodsy tree by the form.

I, also, purchased this very cute bird ornament for the woodsy-themed tree.  It looks perfect coupled with the all natural bird's nest we preserved a few years ago.

The angel outfitted in her fur coat was perfect to hover on top of the tree.

What inspired your Christmas decorating?

2014 Valentines

On Valentine's Day my Mom was almost 93 years young.  She still loves to do handiwork so I purchased an embroidery kit that has several holiday table runners.  The first one she finished was this  beautiful Valentine table runner.  I feel blessed that she is able to use her creative talents and has fun.

While shopping in a local antique mall I saw this garland that was made of vintage Valentine cards and playing cards.  Since our family loves to play card games, this seemed fitting to have this on display.

The Valentine runner made the perfect table scape for our Valentine dinner.

Here are some closer looks.

Valentine Day would not be complete without Red Roses.

I have to give a shout out to my friend, Beverly, at My Sew Sweet Studio,
she put this project together for me.  Check out her blog, she is sew creative.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day !
