Break for Shopping

Since I had to run an errand today, I decided to take a shopping break and go to a home furnishing and women's clothing store called Lush in Bakersfield California. Their displays are always great and I usually have to buy something. It was just the right motivation for me to get creative at home.

Merry Christmas 2009

I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas 2009. These picture are from one of my Christmas trees in the entry. This has been named the White Christmas Tree. The branches that I added make the tree appear to have just been dusted with snow. I included cream and white hydrangeas, roses, and poinsettias with shimmering bulbs and sayings to add some sparkle.

Thanksgiving Event

This arrangement greeted guests at the door. The very large turkey belongs to my friend, Linda. She has been collecting turkeys for years and started many of our friends hunting for turkeys. You might like to meet her on her blog at www.patriotic-grandma.blogspot.com Following is a sampling from the fourteen tables that were decorated.

This turkey has a rustic feel and can be used in many types of decor.

This turkey has a golden finish so the candlelight reflects from it.

The food was catered for this event. I wish I would have taken a picture with the warming trays and food on the table, also. Adding the suitcases for height gave a grander feel.

The white pumkins add a brighter tablescape.

This white turkey can be used on a formal tablescape as well as a rustic one.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family. This is a great time to thank God for all his goodness and blessings and to let people know how much we love them.

Thanksgiving at our House

This is a more traditional tablescape that includes the story of Thanksgiving

Using a white and gold tablescape gave this table a formal look.

My shopping friends and I are always looking out for each other when it comes to turkeys and turkey platters. This turkey platter was from an antique shop. The pilgrims and indians were from Homegoods a few years ago.

Chair Size Mattered for a Cozy Corner

This chair first belonged to my sister, then my Mom, and then I inherited it because I liked the idea that it was a small recliner. I wanted a place to read and relax in my sunny guest bedroom but it had to go with the room so I knew it had to be recovered. I first saw a picture of a chair Robin Brown designed at Magnolia Pearl and I loved it. All the different fabrics were incredible so I wanted to use several different fabrics on my redo chair. I wasn't quite as bold as I would have liked but for my first attempt at mixing fabrics, I am satisfied.
