On the Road Again - Weekend Shopping Adventure - Part 4

The Girlfriend Gadabouts are still headed South on California Highway 101.  We stopped in a small beach town called Carpenteria.  I happen to be helping my church decorate for their Vacation Bible School this summer and the theme is High Seas Expedition.  Of course I need some nautical props and what better place to get some authentic props than at the beach.  Most are antiques but some are new.

I took a picture of all my nautical treasures when I returned home.

As we headed for Ventura, we started to feel hungry.  Thank goodness for iphones because we were able to locate a Red Robin Restaurant which sounded good to all of us.  Even the restaurant had a nautical theme.  After we ate, we were ready to head for the hotel to rest up for another day of shopping.

Bright and early the next day, we began our adventure at the Ventura Swap Meet.
The setting is right on the beach and the weather was perfect.  I have no idea why I took this picture on this side of the fence but I wanted you to see the palm trees and the clear blue sky.  Perfect day for finding treasures.  I did purchase some of the nautical items here. I was also in a mood for buying old silverware which you will see in many posts to come.

We continued our adventure on down California Highway 101 to Agoura Hills Antique Mart where I met owner, Marie Bartolet.  She is having a blog giveaway click here.  I love to visit this shop whenever I travel to this area.  Here are a few pictures I took while shopping.

This oil painting of the lady carrying fruit came home with me.

Unique displays like this toilet.

This faux coconut cake looks good enough to eat.

My friend, Beverly, and I bought these feed sacks.  She made me a table runner which you can see on her blog by clicking here.  I am so blessed to have talented friends.

I'm still looking at chandeliers and this was different because the crystals were an antiqued color.

Another unique display with the purse handing on the hinge of the shutters.

I guess I will have to make one more post to finish this "Weekend Shopping Adventure".

On the Road Again - Weekend Shopping Adventure - Part 3

After leaving the Remnants of the Past show in Nipomo California, we headed south.  We should have a sign on our van that said "Caution, this vehicle stops at Antique Shops".

This buggy with the word "Antiques" made our van stop.

I thought this yellow buggy was unique.

The antique mall is in an old railroad depot building in the small town of  Los Alamos, California.

This field of dreams had visions of poppies and lupine.

The field of color with the hills in the background set a beautiful stage for our trip.
It wasn't too long after this stop that we made our first siting of the Pacific Ocean.

The van continued to brake for antiques in Summerland.

I think it also brakes for flowers too.

Flowers just seem to flourish in the coastal climate.

Adventure to be continued.

On the Road Again - Weekend Shopping Adventure - Part 2

As the girlfriend gadabouts loaded our treasures in the van from the Remmants of the Past sale in Nipomo California we were all set to continue our adventure.  The Dana-Powers property was so welcoming but we had to venture out to find more treasures.

The old wood building in the orchard with the windmill peaking over the citrus trees was the perfect setting for this sale.

I just love how these old steps just meander through the flowers.

This beautiful Victorian inspired farmhouse with the white picket fence and climbing roses
just makes you think of "Home Sweet Home"
.

As we left the property, the van had to cross this bridge and since Beverly was driving you might like to hear her version of driving over this bridge by clicking on Beverly's blog.

The adventure had just begun for us but the story with be continued.

May Day Flowers

I have been on two mini trips in California since my last post and would have still been at the beach today but my 10 year grandson, CJ, was playing baseball last night and slide into third base and had to have his leg stitched up.  I had to come home to check on him.  He and I were watching Biggest loser this morning.  Their inspiring show made me motivated to start walking again.  I took a two mile jaunt around my neighborhood and since I didn't get to post my May Day Flowers on the 1st, I decided it was still May so I wanted to show you some beautiful landscapes around my area.

Let us rejoice and be glad and give God glory.  NIV Rev. 19:7

Have a Blessed Day!
